Hello! I’m Christie Dietz, an award-winning freelance writer in Germany. My work focuses on food, travel and sustainability; I love exploring the connections between places, food and people, and learning about ingredients, cooking techniques and culinary traditions. Having moved from London to Germany in 2010, I primarily write about my adopted home and its neighbouring countries, but I’ll happily travel as far as a train/bus/boat will take me.

I’m a regular contributor to Food by National Geographic Traveller, for which I write a regular recipe-led feature called Recipe Journal, but my work can be found in various other outlets including National Geographic Traveller, Food and Travel, Atlas Obscura, The Guardian and Pit as well as various in-flight magazines and guide books. I’ve also contributed my specialist knowledge of regional German food, wine and culinary traditions to Waitrose Weekend, The Guardian and the BBC. I won the IACP Culinary Travel Writing Award for my National Geographic Traveller Food feature on Germany’s love of white asparagus.

I’m the International Coordinator for the Guild of Food Writers, and I also work as a freelance English content writer for German hospitality and tourism brands. I’m currently available for editorial commissions as well as translating, editing and copywriting projects. If you’d like to work with me, please get in touch!
