Hello! I’m Christie, a freelance food and travel writer from London, England, who moved to Germany in 2010. My work primarily focuses on food, drink and sustainable travel: I love exploring a destination through its culinary traditions and learning how ingredients and dishes connect people to a place. I write about Germany and its neighbouring countries, but for a good story, I’ll travel as far as a train/bus/boat will take me.

I’m a regular contributor to National Geographic Traveller Food magazine, for whom I write a recipe-led feature called Recipe Journal, and I’ve also written for publications including National Geographic Traveller, Food & Travel, Atlas Obscura, The Spruce Eats, The Guardian, Time Out, EATEN and Pit as well as various guide books and in-flight magazines. You can find links to some of my work on my Selected Writing page.

I’m the International Coordinator for the Guild of Food Writers and I won the IACP’s Culinary Travel Writing Award in 2019 for my National Geographic Traveller Food feature on Germany’s love of white asparagus. I also work as a freelance content writer for German hospitality and tourism brands. If you’d like to work with me, please do get in touch!
