Hello! I’m Christie Dietz, an award-winning freelance food and travel writer from London, England, who’s called Germany home since 2010. My work covers food and travel with a focus on sustainability and positive impact tourism. I primarily write about Germany and its neighbouring countries, but I’ll happily adventure as far as a train/bus/boat will take me.
A regular contributor to National Geographic Traveller Food magazine, I’ve also written for publications including National Geographic Traveller (UK and US), Food and Travel, Atlas Obscura and Pit as well as various in-flight magazines and guide books. My specialist niche is regional German food, wine and culinary traditions, my knowledge of which I’ve contributed to Waitrose, The Guardian and the BBC, and I won the IACP Culinary Travel Writing Award for my National Geographic Traveller Food feature on Germany’s love of white asparagus. You’ll find links to some of my written work on my Selected Writing page.
Beyond my journalism work, I’m the International Coordinator for the Guild of Food Writers, and I work as a freelance English content writer for German hospitality and tourism brands. I’m currently available for editorial commissions as well as translating, editing and copywriting projects. If you’d like to work with me, please get in touch!
